Just right click on the shortcut or exe and choose properties, Click on the compatibility tab and check the box marked run this program in compatibility mode for: (XP SP2 is default). Then launch program.
If it's not compatible with your computer then you can't play them. There is a way to transform the files but it's extremely complicated and you have to be a computer genius.
