I just upgraded from XP to Vista, and my Video Card hasn't worked for any of my games. My computer wont let me install DirectX, so the games wont work. Anyone know if an ATI RADEON VE works on Vista? I tried downloading the driver from the website, but they only have it for XP, and the CD doenst seem to work. Please help!
Check here for the system requirements of Windows Vista:

Upgrade video card but you need to check if you have AGP connection PCI or PCI E once you find out then you can look at the cards in your budget and they should tell you on the box if they are supported by Vista PCI E is the best followed by AGP
I have a laptop that died. Before it died I had bought and installed vista ultimate. What I would like to do is install my vista on my new laptop but i'm not sure what microsoft will do when it gets the authentication request. Anyone have any experiance with this?
You can move Vista to any machine, however, you will have 30 days after instal to activate. When you go to activate, it will not let you, you then will have to call the support number that they will provide you with and give them the code on your screen and they will activate it for you. You will have to explain what happend to your old laptop. They will do it for you they are pretty good about that sort of stuff.
Yes. Install the OS onto the new PC and when it is authenticating it you will need to call and they will give you a master code to enter, tell them that you have bought a new computer and want to put it on the new PC. There is also an alternate way to go about this, email me if you are interested in that way :p
yes you can
only a certain amount of times i think tho
You are ok. If it does say something you might just have to call them and explain. Go ahead and install, worse you have to do is tell them that one laptop died and you got a new one. No worries. And it might not even come to that. Hope this helps.
As long as the authentication isn't installed on two computers at the same time, you're fine. If your old laptop is dead (non-functioning and never to be used again), you can use the OS on a new computer.
The release of Halo 2 on the PC for WIndows Vista only has got me exicted. However, though I do have the minimum system requirements for Vista, I have no idea, nor can I guess, the minimum system requirements for Halo 2. Does anyone have a clue or guess? That would really be helpful!
This hasn't been announced yet, but if I were to guess, I'd say you'd have to look at your Vista specs at the PREMIUM minimum requirements, rather than the ''Vista Capable'' minimum requirements.
A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC includes at least:
1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor1.
1 GB of system memory.
Support for DirectX 9 graphics with a WDDM driver, 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)2, Pixel Shader 2.0 and 32 bits per pixel.
40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space.
DVD-ROM Drive3.
Audio output capability.
Internet access capability.
Halo 2 Vista just released a new FAQ. Still no minimum requirements.

Dell E521 using vista Basic with 1GB DDR2 Ram. Everything set to optimize for performance rather than quality. All non essential programs turned off. Is there a setting I can tweak to speed up connecting with IE7. Will Fire fox connect faster. Vista is a performance PIG.
maybe you need an update to fix a bug where Internet Explorer 7 becomes very slow this is due to the way the Phishing Filter checks the content of web pages or try to run it without add-ons and disable the Phishing Filter to see if it helps
This was not an effective answer at at all. The phishing filter was not in any way slowing down the machine. The problem was the User Account settings. Report It
you would need to edit the regestry and i can't say for sure it's doable in vista..
Humming has 2 Ms , you should use spell check, and I think your a racist.
Firefox screams compared to IE 7.
You might have to clear your temp, history, and cookie files. It's a bulky program and runs slow by nature. You might consider a different version of IE or Firefox if you are looking for speed.
I just got a new laptop yesturday and it is running a bit slower than I like. It has 1gb memory and 1.9 Ghz. What should I do to make it run faster?
Suggestions:
1- turn off all the programs that are running in the background
(start..run...msconfig..startup tab...uncheck all the garbage that you dont need running)
2- turn off the pretty Vista interface
(right click the desktop...Properties...Themes...Windows Classic)
3-buy more memory
(2GB)
Tnguy is the best way to go you should listen to what he said i did this all before he did but it works great i am adding the 4 gig that will help as well Report It
I too just bought a laptop with Vista Premium on it and 1 GB of RAM. I don't find it to be so bad. However, I plugged in a 4 GB flash drive that has Memory Boost capabilities (it's cool that Vista can do this) just to help out the RAM situation a bit. I highly doubt that much more then 1 GB or so of that 4 GB can be converted but it all helps.
Earlier this year we bought a new Dell with Vista Premium and 2 GB of RAM and we did the same thing with plugging in the flash drive and I'm telling you it's like one of the fastest computers out there now, period. Good luck!
Completely uninstall Vista and put XP on it.
go into controll panel and chose system and then change your visual settings to best performance.
